Can go off if hit. Not as deadly as a fired projectile, but it's still a small explosion that creates shrapnel. My little brother takes the cake here. He was pouring out little mounds of gun powder from an old box he had found in the garage and throwing matches on them. One spot he poured on was still hot enough to cause the powder to ignite which traveled up to the container of it he was holding in his hand. It exploded and the top few layers of skin on his face basically melted off. Thing is, he had terrible acne scars before that... afterwards, it looked like he had paid thousands of dollars to a dermatologist because all of the scars had vanished. Still had.
